Note on “Beauty to calm the fear”

My family and friends have lived through my treatments for a very rare cancer. I’m extraordinarily lucky – I’ve been in remission for two years and counting.

It doesn’t mean that I’m out of the woods, and about every six months, I go for MRIs to check to make sure nothing is making a comeback. No matter how I try, it’s always a time of anxiety for me. Medical City Hospital in Dallas has tried to make the experience of heading for your next MRI, X-ray, CT scan, PET scan or whatever a little less tense.

As you walk into the building, there are pieces of art that are beautiful and soothing. I’ve come to love them and hope you see the many different moods of the color, light and reflection. If you go up two floors, you’ll meet my oncologist (the best in Dallas) and if you go down one floor, you’ll meet my radiologist (the best in Dallas). But when you walk in, there is beauty to calm your fear.
